On the Beaches

lyrics

I've watched the water bead on their skins
Perfect like design
How it never meets the water beneath
How it runs in easy lines

On the beaches here
The bathers come
To show me yours
To show you mine

The summer laps upon my brow
I am four feet under and toes
Are searching for that fall away
When I become enclosed

On the beaches here
The bathers come
To show me yours
To show you mine
On the beaches here
The waves arrive
To bring their riders
Back in time

Water for water
A warm exchange
My limbs of their master
The sea has erased
And how I must seem
To all the bathers arranged
Between their flags
And their strips of cotton real estate
Just a face all adrift
Between one shore and the next

On the beaches here
The bathers come
To show me yours
To show you mine
The beads of water on their perfect skin
Can choose to run
Or choose to dry
